Purpose of Position
To ensure that visitors and phone calls to the Nursing Home are received in a prompt, professional, friendly manner at all times.
Reports to:
Home Manager
Nurse in Charge.


To open the main front doors of the Nursing Home as appropriate, ensuring that residents only go out as agreed with the relevant staff nurse and that the staff nurse is aware of any resident going out (before they leave).Additionally, to provide a welcoming and professional reception to residents, families and other visitors.
To similarly open the main front gates if necessary or provide the code to residents / families due to return after the gates are locked.
To direct visitors and / or authorized workmen to the appropriate area(s) as requested.
To answer the telephone as required and transfer calls or take messages as appropriate.
To use the paging system as appropriate to contact members of staff only when necessary.
To deal with general enquiries about the Nursing Home at Reception or by telephone.
To monitor incoming faxes and to distribute them as appropriate to the relevant staff.
To carry out filing & typing duties as requested.
To monitor the external CCTV cameras and ensure they are working correctly, especially before going off duty.  To re-set them as instructed if necessary.  If they fail to re-set to inform the Staff Nurse on duty.
To re-set the Cool Blue clocking in system if it goes down or, if the kitchen office is locked to inform the Staff Nurse on duty or telephone the relevant manager at weekends.
To assist with general administrative duties as requested.
To assist the staff nurse(s) in the event of any problem with the building e.g. alarms sounding or power failure or other such situations.
