Provide professional knowledge, expertise, overall coordination and implementation of all safety programs to assure compliance in their meat processing operation.
Responsibilities:
– Designs safety training for all levels of employees and ensures that personnel training and corrective action follow-up is completed
– Develops and implements accident investigation, data analysis, prevention programs, and procedures
– Conducts on-site reviews and audits of operations and facilities
– Monitors all current information on regulations and requirements related to hazardous materials and agents
– Directs industrial hygiene, occupational, and general safety programs to ensure a safe environment and comply with safety standards
– Investigates and evaluates new safety equipment
– Annotates and keeps accurate records ensuring that proper record management is implemented and maintained within all regulations and guidelines
– Responds and provides assistance in all emergency situations
– Keeps the management team informed of any safety and health-related issues and/or concerns identified within the respective scope of responsibility
– Investigates all near misses, first aid cases, recordables, lost day injuries, and vehicular accidents within 24 hours as well as tracking closure on all recommendations
– Operates as the sites’ liaison when outside agencies come on-site to conduct annual assessment
– Conducts supervisory orientation, trains, and develops subordinates; provides appropriate coaching, guides, supervises subordinates; and completes annual performance evaluations
